Mercurio Association: over ten years of passion for tours, art, culture, history and tastes of Tuscany and Florence

A close-knit group of professional experienced guides have been leading cultural tours of Florence and Tuscany since 1999 – sharing their enthusiasm and passion for the arts that the rich cultural heritage this amazing city and region have to offer.

The Mercurio group of guides are a team of passionate docents specialized in archeology, architecture, art history, landscape whose priority is to make visitors feel at home with true respect for the local Florentine culture, to promote sustainable tourism.

The tours are structured for small groups, families, art and history lovers, or those just genuinely interested and curious! The tours of the city are run at a slow pace, and when possible away from the crowds – to explore also the often missed details, nooks and crannies.

Mercurio collaborates with Amici del Turismo, an established Florentine travel agency.

The expert Mercurio tour guides have also contributed to the sponsoring of the restoration of paintings of the Uffizi through the yearly initiative “Regalati un Restauro” (give yourself a gift of restoration). Volunteers led tours of the “Mai Visti” exhibit ( Never seen paintings from Uffizi deposits) - held every Winter during the Holidays - to raise funds for the restoration of an art work.

Mercurio has also participated in the project to provide special anti-reflection glass for masterpieces by Botticelli, Fra Angelico and more.

The Greek God Mercurio was the wise messenger of Zeus and the symbol of communication - the perfect symbol for a group of experienced professional guides whose mission is to promote interactive dialogue and exchange.
